Upgrade Android was born in 2008 when Team Embedded received its first requests for Android related work. While having done Linux ports for multiple architectures and multiple device types, it was soon clear that the demand for Android solutions would grow quickly. Therefore a separate entity was created, called Upgrade Android.
After doing a number of smaller scale Android 2.3.x ports for several tablet models, Google announced Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.x) and with a financial injection of Team Embedded it was finally time to go “public” with Upgrade Android. After an initial roll out of our ICS and Jelly Bean implementations for a large European customer it was clear that our Android business was ready for prime-time!
